Music Row Democrats and other ways to help win in 2006

by: refinish69

Mon Sep 18, 2006 at 08:12 AM CDT

We are in the last days of the 2006 election cycle and we need to work as hard as we can to get good candidates elected.  The Bush Regime has made a mockery of America & everything this country should stand for.  Music Row Democrats has put together a group of 20 songs for 20 dollars to help get good Democrats elected.  The songs are fabulous and you can hear some of them on my podcast

Some of the Great Democrats who need your help here in Texas are Karen Felthauser,
Mary Beth Harrell, and Barbara Radnofsky .
You can go to their individual web sites and help with phone banking or make a contribution.  You can also go to True Blue Travis and help with phone banking for all the candidates.  If you do the phone banking, please select Williamson County Precinct 436 to call.  We are within 10 points of turning this precinct blue!!!  It takes one vote and one precinct at a time to change the outcome in November.

Ties to GOP trumped skill on Iraq team
In rebuilding effort, loyalty to Bush administration was paramount

More of the stupidity of the Bush Regime are discussed in this story at the Washington Post.  You will have to register to read the article but registration is free.

LOL!! (1.00 / 2)
I've been a country music fan since 1988, and I've never heard of any of these "artists"...maybe it's because I haven't picked up a copy of the Brokeback Mountain soundtrack yet...LOL

THE MUSIC
Musicrowdemocrats.com now offers streaming music by some of Nashville’s top songwriters and artists - including Nanci Griffith, Raul Malo and The Mavericks, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Bobby Braddock, Tim O’Brien, Darrell Scott and others. “Over the last couple of years it became apparent to us that some of the world’s finest songwriters were putting their politics down in the studio, but had no outlet for it,” says Titley. “So we are providing a platform for that unique political voice.” Collectively, these artists have won multiple Grammy and CMA Awards, enjoyed over 20 #1 hits, and more than 50 Top 10 hits.  This collection of songs is available for download to anyone donating $20 or more to the MRD PAC.

Maybe you need to expand your horizons (3.00 / 3)
I hope the Brokeback Moutain comment is meant as a joke even if a poor one.

Todd Snider has 8 albums,Nanci Griffith has 22,James Mcmurty 4,Beth Neilson Chapman 7,The Mavericks 8, Derek Webb 4, and the list goes on.  Some of the artist might be fairly new but a lot of them are seasoned performers.  Top 40 in country is much like any top 40 list.  It leaves out some of the best for the most commercial.

Yes, 69, the Brokeback Comment was a joke... (0.00 / 0)
and those artists are not ones played on KSCS (the Dallas area station) on a regular basis. And I doubt that they would be ranked on Bob Kingsley's Top 20 Countdown list, along with the likes of REAL country artists such as George Strait, Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt, etc.

Trust me, I've been a country musician since the age of 17 (I'm 28 now). I've recently played keyboards and sang harmony vocals in a traditional country band, and the MusicRow'Rats listed must be off in their own corner. Maybe the Dicks-i-Chicks might add some spice to the list, with Natalie Manns being on their Blame America First circuit.

You need to calm down (3.50 / 4)
I have been listening to country music longer than you have been alive.  I am 47 and have listened to it most of my life.  This is not a contest on who has the biggest balls or which artist has the most fans. This was a dairy about a group doing something political.  The Brokeback joke was insulting to say the least but I tried to play it down at first.  Well, your homophobia is showing and is not amusing.

Well, sorry to offend you... (1.00 / 2)
I'll be sure and be politically correct, as opposed to Joe Biden (with his 7-11/arab comments) and Howard Dean (with his labeling as the Republican Party as a "white, Christian party").

My comment about the country musicians was to make a point that all they're doing is making political noise. They won't be half as effective as those like Daryl Worley and Charlie Daniels, who are truly proud of their country and who don't go overseas like the Dicks-y-Chicks and make anti-American comments.

The Dixie Chicks are Heroes in my book (3.67 / 3)
They had the sense to stand up and say that the War in Irag was wrong from the beginning.  As time has gone by, they have been proven correct. The war was started based on lies and the Bush Regime has no plans for bringing our Men & Women home.  Speaking out against teh war is not anti-American.  It might be anti-war and even anti-bush but never anti-American.

Great job quoting... (0.00 / 0)
from the Jane Fonda/Cindy Sheehan playbook. And granted, anyone can say what they want at any given time. But they should say it on our soil...not to go to England and bash the country (i.e. Michael Feed Me Moore) or the president (Nastalie Manns). Free speech protection for Americans doesn't extend overseas, although you libs think more along UN lines than you do along US lines.

Then again, it's sometimes pointless debating free speech with a group that would rather protect the right to burn a flag over the right to protect oneself from danger.

True that liberals protect rights... (0.00 / 0)
Liberal Bill of Rights

These rights are guaranteed by We the Liberals:

1. Burn flags
2. Place our children in "time out" or the "thinking chair" when they disobey parents.
3. Negotiate with an armed robber
4. Place a picture of Christ in a glass of urine and obtain funding from the National Endowment of the Arts
5. Abortion on Demand
6. Spit at soldiers upon their return from military service
7. Navigate the cemetery for the voter rolls
8. Dispense birth control on demand to teenage girls via the school nurse's office
9. Riot on the streets or hold up traffic when the need to protest arises
10. Tell a student praying over his or her meal at school that he or she is banned from participating in extracirricular activities, because he or she violated the ACLU's imaginary "separation of church and state" clause they manufactured into the Constitution.

What does James "Guac-O-Licious" Werner say (0.00 / 0)
about abortion on demand, birth control and other areas where your conservatives try to legislate their view of morality upon other citizens?

[ Parent ]
My point is that abortion and contraceptives.... (0.00 / 0)
should be out of the political arena. Liberals AND conservatives want the issues on their political platform planks. And to call me a conservative is an error. What I target is double standards and hypocrisy.

The issues that should be focused on is crime, the courts, the military and national security, border security. Abortion, prayer, gay rights and classroom size should be left to the locals. Not the feds and a bunch of bureaucrats in Austin.

Justice Scalia (5.00 / 3)
Provided the crucial 5th vote on the flag burning case, preventing the prosecution of flag burning on freedom of expression grounds.  Rarely do I hear him called a liberal, though this ranks as your number one liberal "right".

Logic and an open mind are more useful than common sense.
