State of the Blog: Part 2

by: Karl-Thomas Musselman

Wed Feb 01, 2006 at 00:08 AM CST

Slowly we should be seeing some of you show up here at the new home of Burnt Orange Report.  Most everything is ready and I'd like to thank our new platform SoapBlox for making this all possible.

Be sure to register an account, start commenting, and poke around.  I can't tell you how excited I am to be a part of this, and to welcome you here. Oh, and don't forget to take the front page poll down a ways on the left!

P.S. We could very well have a community vote on the new BOR logo.  I already have 2 designs made up, and a third final one on the way. I really like all of them so I going to put it up for public debate and a vote in the next day or two.

I liked the first one...

i'm probably dense, what's the RSS feed address?

But did you know that you can cut and past the feedburner feed just as easily...

That way you won't lose anything anytime I move around...

I agree. I liked the first logo better as well. I'm not sure about the "right left" part of it, but I liked the design better.

Old Content (3.00 / 2)
Is old content going to be integrated into the site?  I regularly search for and read old articles and don't see the ability to do that at the moment...

It will (0.00 / 0)
It's going to be migrated over in the next two weeks.  Our tech guy is working on building an MT to SB converter, we are the first ones!  But yes, but it will take some time.

Building the board (3.00 / 1)
This is going to be great!

RSS Feed? (0.00 / 0)
Karl-Thomas, how do I subscribe to all of the front page articles in my RSS Newsreader? The only link I see is for Feedburner, and I don't use online-based RSS services.

I believe this is the URL you are looking for:

Features? (0.00 / 0)
First off, the site looks great, K-T. I'm just curious about a few things...consider these as questions, not complaints.

Can we save entries as drafts still? What about trackbacks -- are those available anywhere? I'm also curious about archives...

Tradeoffs (3.00 / 1)
As of yet, no draft capability though the ability to future post is in the works on the development side.

Trackbacks are gone.  It was nice to be notified if anything was incoming, but it's just not available in this design.  Just trust that what you are writing is good stuff :)  I'm sorry.

Archives as I have mentioned in multiple places will be moved over in the next 2 weeks.

Please read the Community Guidelines and How to Rate Comments.

Thanks, K-T. I see now about the archives -- I just miss them already. :(

Site does look great, though!
