Mike Collier is running to be your next Comptroller, and he is coming to your city to talk about why he is the best choice in November.
Collier, also known as The Watchdog, is facing off against State Senator Glenn Hegar, who you may remember as the Senate author of House Bill 2. Hegar isn't just awful on women's health. He has a shady history when it comes to taxes, which takes center stage in Collier's new spot: The Tax Man.
More on the importance of Mike Collier's tour and his new spot featuring Hegar in full below the jump.
For statewide Democratic candidates, one of the biggest hurdles to jump will be name recognition. Even if you are the most qualified for the position, as Collier certainly is in the race for Comptroller, it takes a lot of time and quite a bit of money – or getting pretty creative – to get your message out to a state this large.
That's why it is so important for candidates like Collier to take their message on the road and into communities across the state. Collier explains:
The choice in this race is simple. When the job involves counting money, hire the accountant. Texans in every corner of the state are asking the same question: With business booming in Texas, why are our property taxes increasing, while our Texas schools, our roads, and our water resources are underfunded?
Texans deserve a Comptroller that will tell the truth about where their hard earned money is going, and who will use the position of the state's top accountant to protect their interests, not just the politically well-connected. I'm looking forward to traveling the state, meeting my fellow Texans, and honestly discussing where we are, and where we're headed.
The tour, which wraps up on August 2nd, is a great opportunity for Texans to get out and meet the Democratic candidate for Comptroller. There is a clear choice in this race, and now Texans across the state will have the chance to see why The Watchdog is Texas' best bet.
