Congressman Joaquin Castro: Border Crisis “Raises The Question of Who We Consider a Refugee”

Yesterday, Congressman Joaquin Castro spoke on Meet The Press about the growing humanitarian crisis along the border, making clear that Republican obstruction in Congress is blocking immigration reform.

“It has been folks in Congress, specifically the House of Representatives, who have not moved forward on a bill that would have helped prevent” what we're seeing on the border now, Castro stated.

Despite David Gregory trying his best to blame the crisis at the border on President Obama, Castro ably answered his gotcha questions with clear solutions and a strong message of compassion for these children.

“I think it also raises the question of who we consider to be a refugee in the 21st Century,” Castro stated.

I'm glad that Congressman Castro is leading on this and speaking honestly about the child refugees and their needs.
