Burnt Orange Report Endorses Carol Alvarado in HD-145

by: Burnt Orange Report

Sat Feb 15, 2014 at 03:00 PM CST

While we have had our issues with Carol Alvarado in the past, she is the best candidate in HD-145, and voters should send her back to the legislature over the alternative.

Alvarado's challenger, Susan Delgado, is a multiple-time failed candidate who seems motivated by a personal beef with the incumbent related to the late Senator Mario Gallegos. Delgado was reported to be Gallego's long-term mistress. Gallegos post-humously backed Alvarado in the special election for SD-6, which was won by now-Senator Sylvia Garcia.

It is unclear if Delgado offers more than Facebook attacks. Whatever the reason for Delgado's challenge, a legislative primary is no way to settle an interpersonal feud.

Burnt Orange Report backs Carol Alvarado for re-election to HD-145. Voters would be wise to do the same.

Early Voting: February 18-February 28, 2014 | Election Day: Tuesday March 4
