Burnt Orange Report Endorses John Lipscombe for Travis County Court #3

by: Burnt Orange Report

Thu Feb 13, 2014 at 04:00 PM CST

John Lipscombe has accomplished some important progressive reforms in his first term on the bench and deserves to be re-elected. Burnt Orange Report unanimously endorses him for County Court #3.

Since he was elected in 2010, Judge Lipscombe has worked to implement reforms that help rehabilitate criminal offenders. Prior to his election, Lipscombe was a prosecutor for nineteen years, working with youthful offenders. In his first term, Lipscombe started a night court docket for juveniles who can't always make it to the court house during the regular 9-5 hours.

Lipscombe has capably done his job during his first term, and we see no reason to vote him out. We unanimously endorse him for re-election to County Court #3.

Early Voting: February 18-February 28, 2014 | Election Day: Tuesday March 4

Endorsements are made based on a weighted consensus of the staff, which guides the type and tone of endorsement. Members of the Burnt Orange Report staff with any conflict of interest in a given race abstain from voting on that race.
