Dear Burnt Orange readers this is a post of personal privilege to ask for your support of me in the Democracy for America Netroots Nation Scholarship Program contest. The 5 applicants with the most votes at 11:59pm on May 7th will automatically receive a scholarship to this year's conference in San Jose, Ca. The scholarship covers lodging and registration, and I would love to go!
The Netroots Nation is chance for bloggers and social activists from around the country to get together and share ideas that work. There will be panel discussions ranging from how to organize better on the internet to climate change and the ethics of drones.
From my application:
Politics is in my blood. My dad ran his first campaign for Beaumont City Council the year I was born. I have been involved in policy work and activism my entire life and have worked for Democrats and progressives at every level of government. Currently, I run the social media campaign for the Texas House Democratic Caucus, write the newsletter for the Travis County Democratic Party, and blog for Burnt Orange Report, one of the largest progressive state blogs, where I focus on strengthening the Democratic base.
Several other scholarship winners will be chosen by the Democracy for America board but with your vote I can win in the first round! Let's make sure Texas has some good representation at Netroots! You can view the rest of my application and cast your vote here.
