| A new poll released today shows State Rep. Pete Gallego leading Rep. Quico Canseco 43-38 in the 23rd district - outside the margin of error.
The survey was conducted by Anzalone Liszt Research on behalf of the League of Conservation Voters and the Sierra Club. The poll reflects Gallego's undeniable amomentum as he fights to be a real representative of the district, not a corporate sellout like Canseco.
Hotline explains that Republicans are as worried as Democrats are excited that this House seat could well come back to the Democratic aisle:
Both national party committees are already spending heavily in the district. The most recent filings with the Federal Election Commission indicate the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has spent over $260,000 attacking Canseco on TV, while the National Republican Congressional Committee has spent over $320,000 going after Gallego. |
