(Republican State Rep. Connie Scott should spend more time working on the needs of her constituents than giving away cars to the highest bidder. - promoted by Katherine Haenschen)
State Representative Connie Scott could give YOU a new car! …. But only if you’re one of her wealthy donors. That’s right, Nueces County Republican Connie Scott planned to award a new car to one lucky $2,500 donor at her “Golf for Connie” fundraiser. If you didn’t win the car, well, you could still hang out with Connie and her lobbyist friends at the Corpus Christi Country Club, one of her “favorite places to relax.” But Connie at the Country Club sounds much different than Connie on the campaign trail. She tells us that Texas politicians have “lost touch with the commonsense values” that define us. We have to agree with her on that. How much more out of touch could a politician be, giving away a new car to wealthy donors, while hardworking Nueces County families struggle every day? Instead of rewarding the wealthy special interests that have bankrolled her campaign, Connie Scott should be giving the hardworking people of Corpus Christi real representation. While in the Capitol, Connie Scott voted to slash funding for local schools by millions of dollars, which has caused Corpus Christi ISD to roll back goals of college readiness, among other plans. She also voted to cut millions in student financial aid, making it more difficult for young Texans to get the training and education they need to fulfill their potential, and enter the workforce. Sound like “common sense” to you? You can call Connie Scott’s office at either (361) 241-7186 or (512) 463-0462, or send her an email at connie.scott@house.state.tx.us to let her know that her big donor giveaway is out of touch with Corpus Christi values. |
