Some big news came out of DFW today for Marc Veasey's campaign to be the Congressman out of the new 33rd Congressional District of Texas.
"I know Marc Veasey is focused on the priorities of hardworking North Texans, whether it is strong public education to encourage job growth or protecting family budgets from predatory lending," Davis said. "I fully endorse Marc Veasey because he is the partner we need in North Texas to create new jobs and strengthen our local economy."
"I have enormous respect for the other candidates who were willing to put themselves on the line and add their voice to the conversation as to how Texas can do better, particularly friends here at home such as Councilwoman Kathleen Hicks, J.R. Molina, Rev. Kyev Tatum, and Judge Manny Valdez," she said. "Each of them gave voice to the priorities of the people in this community. And each contributed greatly to assuring that those voices will continue to resonate. I know that these community leaders will continue their legacy of service to this community, and I look forward to working with each of them."
If the Veasey Campaign can leverage this endorsement once late July comes around, it will be a huge win for his chances. In a likely low turnout runoff, any increase of excitement is good for the cause, and there's no hotter name in Texas Democratic politics than local Senator Wendy Davis.
Further, it's nice to see Wendy Davis, who has her own tough reelection coming in November against a Republican, continue to stand up tall for Democrats, even if it is in a primary. Too many Democrats faced with Republicans in November hide all hints of liberalism that they can. I'm sure many are smiling about Davis still bucking that trend, especially fellow Texas legislator Marc Veasey. |
