The Dominoes Are Falling, Help Ralph Reed Follow

by: Kevin M. Callahan

Fri Jun 23, 2006 at 01:04 PM CDT

My friend Damon McCullar reported to you all that the Chief of Staff of the Government Service Administration has been found guilty on two counts of obstruction of justice into the infamous Jack Abramoff trips to Scotland and three counts of making false statements or concealing information from GSA officials.

Included in the famous trip to Scotland were Congressman Bob Ney of Ohio, Ralph Reed of Christian Coalition fame and Republican candidate for Lt. Gov of Georgia, and two Ney aides.

McCullar said many think that Ney is next. That only leaves one more man that is connected here... and as was reported, that man, the infamous Ralph Reed, is attempting to get himself elected to one of the most powerful seats in the Georgia State Government.

But you can help stop him.

I ask you to join with me to help stop Ralph Reed and help create opportunities for Georgia families to succeed. You may be asking why Texans, like myself, who have not changed our residency, are asking you, also Texans, to join us. I will tell you why. It is because if we don't act now, Ralph Reed will be successful in his first step toward his quest for the White House! We must stop him NOW. Otherwise, we will have a hypocritical zealot trying to use a position of power in the South East's most populous state to build a foundation for a presidential race. We've already sent enough  of Reed's ilk to DC, do we really want to sit idly by while he builds himself a spring board?

I hope the answer is no, especially as there is someone on our side fighting against Ralph Reed. That man is Greg Hecht.

Hecht served in the Georgia Legislature as a State Representative and State Senator. Prior to that, Hecht worked as an Assistant District Attorney, protecting families from violent felons and drug dealers. In addition, he authored and passed laws on elder abuse prevention, domestic violence prevention, and taxpayer rights, as well as the Georgia Mentoring Act. During his time as a State Senator, he was named the Georgia Council on Aging's Legislator of the Year and the Speak Up for Children's Legislative Award Recipient.

However, Greg can't do it alone.

Reed is the darling of the Christian fundamentalist right because of his ties to the Christian Coalition. The Coalition, organizations like it, and individuals who believe in its mesage are lining up all over the nation to give to Ralph Reed's coffers. He has raised around $4 Million dollars already for this race, with most of it coming from out of the state of Georgia. That is why I left my home in Austin, Texas, along with two other gentlemen who left their wives and children behind temporarily. Stopping Reed and supporting Greg is that important to the well being of progressiveness across the nation.

The hat's being tossed around, and $10 seems to be the going rate here at Burnt Orange Report. I ask, if you can manage it, to contribute to Greg Hecht's campaign for Lt. Governor of Georgia. Ralph Reed is only interested in using his position as a stepping stone to ever increasing power. Greg wants to serve the interests of the Georgians that elected him.

Reed has made this a national issue, as dangerous to Texans as it is to Georgians. Send him a loud message that when you try to use public office for personal gain, just like his golf buddies did, you're not welcome to a position of power, in Georgia, in Texas, or anywhere else in America.
