| I've been working with Denton County's Democratic Party since 2005, which was a time that the DCDP was at its lowest point. Since then I have taken a leadership role in moving the party move forward.
There are several key points in building a better party and electing Democrats, that we need to continue with or start doing again.
If I am elected chair, we will be reimplementing the "Farm Team". Although I was not the first person to work on that project, I was the last to do so more than two years ago. Helping Democrats understand what it takes to run for office and pointing them in the right direction for training is essential to having qualified and competent candidates. We will elect Democrats this way.
Raising money to elect Democrats is what I will do as chair. The county chair should spend enough time making phone calls to potential donors and resoliciting donors. I am not aware of any past chair that has done that via call time. We will elect Democrats by having enough funds to run the party's basic functions and implement effective field plans.
Our precinct chairs are our grassroots base. They need to be effectively trained to do the job they were elected to do, which is making contact with Democratic voters in their precincts. As a party, we will make sure they have the support they need to accomplish this goal. Making contact with voters drives turnout and elects Democrats.
2012 is a year of opportunity. We have the opportunity to make Democratic gains in Texas. I hope to be a part of that by becoming your next Democratic Chair in Denton County and helping to elect members of the Democratic Party to office.
I need your help to become chair by voting for me in Denton County and by donating to my campaign. Visit my website johnforchair.com to donate and connect on social media. |
