Perry to Announce Run for President on Saturday

by: Ben Sherman

Mon Aug 08, 2011 at 04:13 PM CDT

(It's going to be a long 15 months... - promoted by Phillip Martin)

Today, Politico reports that Perry will announce his intentions to run for president this Saturday, the same day as the Ames Straw Poll. Perry will tell "conservative" activists gathered at the RedState convention in Charleston that he will be a candidate.

Immediately after, Perry will make his first trip to New Hampshire for a house party in his honor. He's expected to campaign in Iowa next week.

Welcome to the race, Rick. We all look forward to your entrance...for different reasons.

You're probably excited because you think you have a great record to run on that trumps all your opponents'.

What you fail to realize is that your record is actually your greatest weakness. Once the shock waves of your announcement are gone, all that will be left is this question: "What's Rick Perry's real record?" Republicans, Democrats and the mainstream media will all be asking that same question. We Texans who have been keeping tracking of your shameful record will help them discover you every step of the way. And I'm sorry (actually, thrilled) to tell you, you just can't stand up to that type of scrutiny.

You've gutted public education in Texas, made us poorer and more dependent on government assistance, killed an innocent man, scandalized your office for your own private gain numerous times and hampered Texas' economic growth by failing to invest in Texans.

You'll try to brush all that (and more) over. You'll try to swagger your way through every media discovery of what you've done in this state.

You're not in Texas anymore, Rick. You're about to travel the country while the myth you've spread about the well-being of our beloved state unravels. And for that, we may all end up grateful for your run.

Wonderful it worked! We got him in the view of the entire nation and we will expose the destruction he caused before 2008 and after Obama's election! Thanks you Texans we are going to finally get rid of him and send to Syria with his buddies!

To the author: Would you be so kind as to clarify for me? You have truly sparked my interest. (0.00 / 0)
First off I would like to clarify that I am not a 'sneaky republican troller' or hater of anykind. However, I would truly like to know the answer to a few questions I formulated upon reading this article. Could you please provide the source of reputable publishings that suggest 'Perry gutted Texas education.' Where, and how specifically was it gutted...or if so many examples are fact list a few of the most shocking ones. Additionally I would like to know how specifically Perry made Texans poorer and dependant on Gov assistance. Could you cite a source for this knowledge as I would love to read more about this. Times are hard but it seems as if Texans are doing better than most...clarifying this would be tremendously beneficial to your legitimacy as an author.  Also how much poorer are we? What part of society is poorer specifically and why. Also could you provide any statistics or published reports that demonstrate the extent to which Texans are being forced into dependance upon Governmet assistance...and in which areas this situation has inflamed the most. Texas is so huge that both of the above claims would best be understood if divided up by region.  Additionally could you cite who the innocent man was that Rick Perry killed? I can see why you wouldn't continue to explain the specific details of this within the context of your article itself...However, individuals upon discovering this fact are sure to want to know more.  Also, an example of Perry's 'scandalizing' of his office for 'personal gain' would be sure to entertain Democrats and Republicans alike. Could you please offer one for humourous pleasure? (Politics is dry to many...these dramatic examples engage).  Lastly could you please Provide sources, as well as a couple of illustrative instances within the context of the article itself that clarify specific ways in which Perry 'failed' to 'invest in Texas' and the directly make evidence how this hindered 'economic growth'. A few examples - or source with this clearly done would be really helpful.  I am not trying to be annoying...I just really would like to know. I would like to tell all of my friends about these horrid harms on Perry's part- and when someone dissagrees be able to provide factual evidence to trump them.  You would be doing a tremendous duty to the party to provide these clarifications...as winning "New" democrats can really help the parties numbers in the election...and they are unlikely to have this extensive historical knowledge...and more unlikely to research all of it themselves. Offering it simply and cited to legitimate sources would be AWESOME!!! Thanks :)

What turnip truck (0.00 / 0)
did you just fall off?

Cameron Todd Willingham was the executed man.

Go read about Perry's tech fund corruption, oh wait that was all over the paper.

So if you are not really a 'sneaky republican troller', you are part of the reason Perry is our longest serving governor, a totally non-informed electorate.

But me, I think you're lying.
