| I have been asked to start writing here to give some more perspective on the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I do not proclaim to know everything there is to know, but I hope this will help out.
About me. I am 29 years old and was born in New Jersey. I moved to North Carolina when I was almost 11 and went through school there. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Geography from the University of North Carolina. I moved to Dallas in the summer of 2001, having left IBM and ended up working in the containerized ocean freight logistics business, which is where I am today.
Politically I have been everything and everyone. As a teen and into my early college years, I indentified as a Republican. I wanted to be rich like everyone else. But I soon realized, that the party has moved too far to the right for my tastes and I finally gave up on them after 1996. That is also around the time I accepted the fact I was gay and I know the GOP doesn't like playing with Lincoln logs in public. I moved on to being an independent and soon to being a liberal progressive.
I founded the Addison chapter of Drinking Liberally in June 2005. I became a Democratic Party precinct chair in November 2005 in Denton County (city of Dallas). I was also the delegation chair for SD-9 for the county at the State Convention. I also hope to help charter a new Denton County Young Democrats this summer, with some of the Denton crew. I keep a local blog, which I am not sure if anyone reads but it serves its purpose http://littlecornerofdemocracy.blogspot.com
What I would like to do to highlight DFW, is post some interviews and highlights of our congressional and state house races. We have a lot of qualified candidates who get little recognition outside of the Metroplex. We are on the brink of turning blue once again and the Texroots and BOR can help. |
