New Jersey's Governor Bans New Coal Plants, Supports Science, Looks to Market for Solutions

Governor Chris Christie, known for fearless, straight talk made a statement last Thursday worth sharing.


  • No New Coal Plants. “From this day forward any plans that anyone has regarding any type of (new) coal-based generation of energy in New Jersey is over.” (Christie)

  • But, No More Cap & Trade, either. Christie said this in light of quitting the nation's first multi-state greenhouse gas reduction initiative (RGGI), which has environmentalists scared.

  • Yet, He Stands With Scientists. Previously a climate change denier Christie said on Thursday, “We know that we are at least a part of the problem.”
