SD1 was represented well

first, let me clarify that SD1 is not solely about Longview.  they seem to have a monopoly on the postings, blogs, sites that i've come across and this is does not make me happy. SD1 includes my hometown of Tyler as well as many other noteworthy towns such as Marshall.

MY BIG ISSUE THIS BLOG is the runoff btw. Richie and Maxey.  Sadly, i read somewhere that SD1 was (percentagewise) the most solidly pro-Richie district in TX.  how sad...and i say that not as any disrespect to Richie (whom I know nothing about) but that it reminds me how homophobic my SD1 region is. that saddens and frustrates me!!!!  i heard from a very good source on the convention floor that many SD1 delegates (blindly?!) voted for Richie solely because to vote for Maxey was to vote for gays. they sadly wouldn't (and couldn't?) see beyond his sexual orientation to recognize his impressive experience, history and bilingual potential as a great party Chair. they shortchanged themselves AS WELL AS ALL TEXANS & DEMOCRATS by having such small-mindedness.

but i am getting ahead of myself.  i can't forget the start of it all--the kickoff reception Thursday night at the Hilton. my money is tight right now yet i sacrificed my $50 for the ticket and got NOT ONE MORSEL of food.  now i didn't go there to woof down food, i mean the focus was networking but is it too much to ask for at least a few nibbles? i was starving and as y'all quickly found out, not much was open so finding a place to eat within walking distance was not easy.  and don't even start me on parking.  i was reluctant to move my vehicle from it's ideal space i found my accident. to move it was to lose it so i had to keep it parked. again, i don't mind walking. i lived in NYC for several years so i know about "hoofing it" a few blocks here and there.  walking is good to me.  but c'mon, when you're starving and can't find food, a gal gets a bit cranky.  luckily i ran into some friends (from dallas) at the reception so all was well but the rest of the convention, we all joked that the reception was good for one thing--the FIFTY-DOLLAR NAME TAG!  that's all i got outta it.  well, i did mingle with Radnofsky and her people. i talked to Josh, and  her manager, Seth who was there this time with wife in tow. she is asian, so sweet and really helping out the campaign.  i'd initially met them all at the Tyler press conference she did recently. they are really an exciting group.  i even got official volunteer credentials. i am a BIGTIME believer in our fearless Barbara Ann, although i've found myself humming that song over and over...it's crept into my brain! LOL...but the "barbara ann" oldies' song is not a bad thing....it keeps me mindful of the race to end all races...this run for US Senator from texas is a FIGHT to work for!  Radnofsky simply MUST win, we cannot accept any less.  the stakes are too high.  we must end the evil reign of Kay Bailey..the evil reign...AND the evil RAIN of ignorance.  God bless Texas!

As Treasurer/Precinct 16 Chair for the Gregg County Democratic Party, I didn't realize we had a monopoly.

We have been pretty active in Gregg County, and look forward to working with all other counties in SD1.

We are certainly not standing in the way of other SD1 counties posting on the blogs, and would certainly welcome them to do so.

It should also be noted that ALL of Gregg County's votes went for Maxey in both votes.
