Hi, yes it is me again with the AIDS Walk stuff. When will I stop bugging people about this? When AIDS agencies have sufficient funding. Actually, the Walk is on Sunday, so you're likely to get a break in my begging for a while. Until January when I start raising money for the AIDS Ride. So who are you helping when you give money to the Walk? Glad you asked.

Sharing agencies are local HIV and AIDS-related nonprofit organizations who have formed AIDS Walk teams to raise funds for their respective organizations. To have your donation go to one of the following organizations rather than to the general Walk fund, please direct your donation to that group's fundraising team. Donations to the AIDS Walk not made to a sharing agency team go to AIDS Services of Austin's services and prevention outreach.

We are proud that AIDS Walk Austin is an event for and by the community--all money donated stays in Austin to help address the local face of a global epidemic.

AIDS Services of Austin
Founded in 1987, AIDS Services of Austin is the region's oldest and largest community-based organization addressing the local AIDS crisis. Annually, ASA provides direct care services to over 1,500 people and HIV prevention education to over 10,000 people.

allgo
allgo is working to create and sustain a statewide network of queer people of color activists, groups, organizations and allies, which through nourishment of relationships, grassroots organizing and artistic expression can radically transform systems and policies toward a collective liberation.

Austin Harm Reduction Coalition
AHRC is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization that works to prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS and hepatitis C among injection drug users. They provide HIV & hep. C testing, drug treatment referrals, medical care and resources to prevent disease transmission.

The Care Communities
The mission of The Care Communities is to provide practical and compassionate support for people with serious illness, particularly AIDS and cancer. The support is provided by Care Teams, which consist of four to seven volunteers, who offer such assistance as light housekeeping, shopping, transportation, meal preparation and yard work. It also provides emotional support and companionship to those who are ill and who might otherwise remain isolated or alone. The vision of The Care Communities is a caring community where no one will face a serious illness alone.

CARE Program (Austin-Travis County Integral Care)
The CARE Program offers HIV counseling and testing, Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS, case management, street outreach, referral and assistance to substance abuse treatment services, mental health case management, relapse prevention counseling, Journey Outpatient Substance Abuse treatment, acu-detox, HIV education and training, liaison to incarcerated people living with HIV, and risk reduction materials.

David Powell Clinic
The David Powell Clinic provides primary medical care on an outpatient basis to adult HIV-positive residents of the Austin Health Services Delivery Area. The clinic provides HIV-specific health services, focusing on the prevention of illness and the ongoing management of chronic conditions and acute health problems through a coordinated team effort that includes physicians, a nurse practitioner, registered nurses, medical case management, social workers, mental health services - including a psychiatrist - a nutritionist, and radiology, laboratory, and pharmacy services.

Out Youth
Out Youth is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support and provide services to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth ages 12 to 19 in Austin and Central Texas. They offer peer support groups, counseling, educational programs, social activities and community outreach.

Project Transitions
Project Transitions is dedicated to serving people with HIV and AIDS by providing hospice, housing, and support in a compassionate and caring environment. They have been serving Central Texas since 1988. No one is denied admission to any of their programs because of inability to pay. They are very proud of what they have been able to accomplish, all with the full support and effort of a caring community.

Rural AIDS Services Program of Community Action
The Rural AIDS Services Program (RASP) creates a positive social impact through case management services by developing a partnership between the client and case manager to work together to maintain client independence and increase access to HIV medical care. Services include case management, transportation services to and from medical and dental appointments, financial assistance for food, rent, utilities and prescriptions in Hays, Caldwell, Blanco, Bastrop, Burnet, Fayette, Lee, Llano and Williamson counties.

Their mission is to provide affordable mental health counseling and training with an expertise in gender and sexual diversity.  Waterloo Counseling Center's vision is for Austin to be an all inclusive community.

The Wright House Wellness Center
Since 1988, The Wright House Wellness Center has offered care and compassion to Central Texans living with or at risk of HIV and other chronic illnesses and provided resources for support, education and empowerment.
