This past weekend, the Republican National Committee sent a “Fire Pelosi” bus around Texas. The bus was a colossal failure — one conservative blogger in Houston was actually bullied from just taking a picture of the bus. (See: “Fire Pelosi Bus Tour: Republican Thugs Try to Intimidate Blogger”). The bus also got turned away from the State Fair in Dallas, because they did not arrange to actually be there.

Meanwhile, the Back to Basics PAC, having learned of the bus, hired a plane to fly a “Fire Rick Perry” banner above the State Fair. They got some tremendous bang for their buck: they made the TV news on three TV stations in Dallas, including this rather awesome clip from Fox 4:

The story also made it onto WFAA TV. Great work by the Back to Basics PAC taking a simple, inexpensive idea and turning it into a strong television news story.
