by: Lainey Melnick

Dear MoveOn member,

MoveOn members in Texas's 21st District have voted to endorse Lainey Melnick for Congress. It's up to all of us to stop the corporate takeover of Congress-you can volunteer with the campaign here:

Below is a special message for you from Lainey Melnick.

Thanks for all you do.

Dear MoveOn Members:

Thank you very much for voting to endorse our campaign. Your support is very much appreciated. We all share the same concern about what consequences we will face in November if we lose this race, and if we lose the House. Congressman Lamar Smith, my opponent, spoke at a GOP event this month and vowed that with his new position as Chairman of the Judiciary he would use his new power to issue subpoenas, to make sure that he controls the House agenda, and to move us all backwards instead of moving forward. It will take action to stop him, and I'm counting on your help to get out the vote, make phone calls, canvass neighborhoods, bring in contributions, and spread the word that this is a race that we must win in November.

I am a small business owner, a mother of four, and a grandmother. I have been standing up for justice, equality and liberty since childhood. As a political outsider, I am looking to bring common-sense fiscally responsible solutions back to Washington, fight corruption, and limit the power and influence of special interests. I have been endorsed by the Alliance for Retired Americans due to my commitment to preserve and protect invaluable programs like Social Security and Medicare, which my opponent would like to privatize, and I've been endorsed by the National Women's Political Caucus for my dedication to equality and privacy rights.

Here is what you can do to help:

  * Please contribute whatever amount you can to help our efforts. If you'd rather send a check, mail it to PO Box 162702, Austin, TX 78716.
  * Please subscribe to get future emails from our campaign.
  * Please join our team of volunteers who share our vision for a brighter future.
  * Please follow Lainey Melnick on Facebook.
  * Please follow Lainey Melnick on Twitter.
  * Go to any of these County Democratic Campaign headquarters to get a bumper-sticker and a yard sign. Bexar: 1101 Broadway. Travis: 605 W. 13th St. Comal: 602 Creek Rd. Kendall: 101 Johns Rd. Kerr: 610 Hwy 39.
  * Please spread the word of our campaign to all your contacts, write letters to the editor, post blogs, and most of all, I would be honored to have your vote.

It's time for someone to represent our district who will take action, who will look out for your interests and not the special interests, and who will wear out the sole of her shoes and not the seat cushion of her chair. That's exactly what I will do with your help.
Thank you for taking action to win,

-- Lainey Melnick
