Here's a challenge for you guys--if you live in one of these cities, please go out and grab a copy of the newspaper. Take a photo of the ad and post it on our Facebook fan page!

We've also gotten a lot of coverage on our newspaper ad in newspapers and blogs. Here's a great article from Talking Points Memo about our Perry Is A Coward ad:

"He's afraid of the record he's established," [Cliff] Walker said. The advertisement cites several topics that the group says Perry should answer questions about, including on his record on the deficit in Texas, his record on education and his tax policies. "These are things that Texans deserve to know. He's using clear stall tactics," Walker said.

As Perry has become a national figure in the tea party movement, Walker said Texans deserve to examine his record and hold him accountable. "The Governor is trying to play a game here where he tries to convince people he's some sort of outsider who is crusading against the government," Walker said. "He's no newbie."

Even Fox News, one of the biggest promoters of the tea party movement, took notice of our ad as you can see here. Here's the list of newspapers and blogs covering the news about our ad:

"New Ad Calls Perry A Coward"
Dallas Morning News

"PAC'in a Punch"
The National Journal

"Day 119 Of Perry Refusing To Debate: Coward"
Burnt Orange Report

"Perry Is A Coward. Got Any Questions?"
MeanRachel

"PAC to Gov. Perry: Face Texas Like A Man"
Talking Points Memo

Also, our newspaper ad calling out Governor Perry on his cowardice to face Texans over his miserable record made it onto television in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area last night. Here's the video from the WFAA station, and the transcript is below:

"I think what they're trying to do is jab the bear with a sharp stick to get it up on its hind legs," said SMU political science professor Cal Jillson. "They want Perry to say, 'All right, I better debate this guy.'"
The Back to Basics ad uses a true fightin' word in a state that loves its cowboy ways.

So far today, Governor Perry has refused to stand up and face Texans. His spokesman, Mark Miner, excuses Perry's hiding like a coward:

"We've made the decision that a better use of the governor's time is to talk directly to Texans and reporters throughout the state," spokesman Mark Miner said. He noted the Perry campaign would continue to use social media.

What a lame excuse. Governor Perry needs to face Texans about his miserable record, and the longer he hides from them, the more of a coward he is. It makes us wonder what he's hiding, and Texans deserve better than what we've gotten out of Governor Perry.

Please help us spread the word about Perry's refusal to stand up and face Texans like a man on Facebook and on Twitter!

Also, if you live in one of the many Texas cities we're running our print ad in, please go out and grab a copy on Tuesday so you can post a picture about it on our Facebook fan page!

Disclosure: Donations will be used by the Back to Basics PAC to advocate on behalf of Texans against the hypocrisy of self-serving politicians.

CROOK (1.00 / 2)
That's what the headline would read on the ad if Perry lowered himself to White's level.

So what is it about his income during those years that White doesn't want anyone to know?

Maybe the returns would show how wealthy he got after he left the Clinton administration and went to work for Isaam Fares?

If anyone is expecting White to carry everyone "down ballot" to victory you can expect a Republican sweep in November.  But, hey, the boys in the backroom in Austin only see all the goodies in the governor's mansion they can access if White does manage to win. And they are the only ones who will benefit if he does.

Are those goodies (0.00 / 0)
you're talking about in the burnt Texas Govenors mansion or the upscaled, rent-a-Gov mansion?

[ Parent ]
How about you guys think about Texas for a minute instead of your... (1.00 / 1)
...hypocritical bitching about each other's candidate? You Dems and Reps are so full of s***. I'm talking to you BOR and Baby Snooks.

How about the candidates debate what is going on in Texas and their ideas about getting it right-sided? Maybe they can agree to a debate that will not allow one single mention of the "you got this or that sweetheart deal" accusations flying around and focus on the millions of Texas instead. That would be refreshing.

Sure (5.00 / 1)
Just tell me when Rick Perry is willing to show up.

Now, a very great man once said that some people rob you with a fountain pen.

Neither is my candidate... (0.00 / 0)
I don't particularly like either of them and do agree there should be a debate but apparently all we will have is rhetoric from both sides about the "sweetheart deals" that they both have probably gotten along the way.

What I find interesting is the "terrorist association" accusation made by the White campaign with regard to Doug Jaffe. Rick Perry's campaign could make a similar accusation, based in fact of the association, about Bill White with regard to Isaam Fares. Instead, he has just decided to ignore Bill White altogether.  Except to ask "where are the returns?"  Well, so, where are they?

As for Rick Perry's strategy it is an interesting campaign strategy to say the least. Me or him. The Republican or the Democrat. To be honest it's really just "more of the same" or "more of the same."

Oh, the humanity! (1.00 / 1)
A PAC funded almost exclusively by a trial lawyer who's made his fortune off of obscene lawsuits doesn't like 'ol Rick? If I were the Gov, I'd take that as a compliment. You can thank your lovely trial lawyer/gravy train for doing more harm than good in our legal system...Steve Mostyn and his anti-tort reform policies aren't something to be proud of.

All he wants to do is dump money into the bank accounts of Dem candidates and incumbents so he can fight Texas' tort reform policies and make more money. Selfish, much?

What a fine person to be associated with Bill White.

Hell, if anybody's a coward, I'd hand Bill White a mirror. I seem to remember a certain former mayor of Houston running for the hills when the President of the United States came to town.

Obscene? (0.00 / 0)
If there weren't so many "obscene" issues deserving of lawsuits maybe there wouldn't be any need for trial lawyers. You know, last I looked there are courts of law as part of our system of justice. So much energy spent on "demonizing" trial lawyers says more to me than anything you've tried to say...and failed to accomplish with your comment.

[ Parent ]
Yep. (1.00 / 1)
Puh-lease!

Trial lawyers and (and stupid people) are the reason we so desperately needed tort reform - and got it - back in 2003. Mostyn and Co. would like nothing more than to fund a bunch of Dems who would be happy to overturn the reform efforts that lower insurance/consumer costs and protect business and enterprise.

I shudder to think about how much money people like Mostyn have made off of "I spilled my coffee and it was too hot, ouch!!!" type of lawsuits. If Bill White and the BOR want to be in bed with that kind of crowd...don't drink coffee, I guess.

[ Parent ]
I shudder (0.00 / 0)
at your misunderstanding of the truth.

If you knew what you were talking about, the McDonald's hot coffee lawsuit had the outcome it did because McDonald's ignored around 700 complaints about injuries due to their unnecessarily overheated coffee. They wouldn't settle with the woman who had asked $20,000 and $11,000 of that  was hospital bills.

How about: "I spilled my coffee and now my groin needs skin grafts, ouch!!!"

Heartless & ill-informed GOPgal.

You've got a Google. Use it.

Government controls Businesses' marketplace excesses (0.00 / 0)
by regulations & enforcement or by statutes & lawsuits. GOP wants to get rid of both arenas of governance. (Until they need to sue someone.)
