Republican Louie Gohmert Warns of Terrorist Babies

by: Matt Glazer

Mon Jun 28, 2010 at 11:43 AM CDT

The Texas Tribune has a story that shows how Texas Republicans continue to give a good state a bad name.

U.S. Rep. Joe Barton, R-Ennis, isn't the only Texas congressman making headlines in Washington. Citing a "retired F.B.I. agent" as his source, U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Tyler, said on the floor of Congress last week that terror cells are plotting to breed future terrorists inside the United States.

This is one of the most absurd things I have heard in a long time. Second only to Joe Barton's apology to BP. Apparently we are stupid for letting women have children in America because they could be terrorists or so says a a retired, unsourced FBI agent.

Media Matters has more on the story.

Dear Republicans, (5.00 / 1)
In the words of Bob Moser:
"Whatever you do, keep talking."
Love,

Criminal conspiracy (0.00 / 0)
If I had to guess, this Manchurian Maternity caper was hatched at the Canton Flea Market, that hotbed of international crimes like the importation & sale of faux European luxury goods, like fake Prada handbags.  Maybe Ennis, Tyler, & Canton are the new axis of evil right here in the homeland.  Either that, or its the new Bermuda Triangle of partisan insanity.  Where could these conspirators/inseminators meet women to carry these future terrorists?  The mini-golf course in Tyler?  The Sonic in Ennis?  Walmart?  The skating rink in Ben Wheeler?  Maybe the Church of Christ, where they could seamlessly blend in with the local population, most of whom think the Iraq war is the fast track to the Rapture.

We ought to begin to question (3.00 / 1)
the sanity of some of our Texas Republican lawmakers.  Last week Louie Gohmert admitted to agreeing with a right wing author's comparison of Obama to Hitler.

I guess it has not occurred to Louie Gohmert and other Texas Republicans that it is a good idea to make sense when speaking, especially on the U.S. House floor on live TV. Otherwise we have every right to question a lawmaker's sanity.

Agree! (0.00 / 0)
Its stupid to think terrorists would breed babies in the US.  Why go through the trouble? Come in through the front door. AKA our southern border.
