Impeachin' and Stumpin' @ TX Dem Convention

by: TXsharon

Fri Jun 09, 2006 at 10:15 PM CDT

When I left Fort Worth at 6:30pm dragging with exhaustion, we have at least 750 signatures on the IMPEACHment Resolution and some of the clipboards were still out.  That is a little more than half way to the number of signatures for the resolution to go to the floor for debate.

I apologize for the crappy pictures.  I'm blaming the excitement of the crowd.

Just before I left, a fairly large crowd was gathered around Barbara Ann Radnofsky's booth and directly across from hers is David Van Os ',  People started yelling, "Stump, stump, stump...!"

Since there was no stump in sight, we grabbed a stack of pallets and David's wife Rachel bravely climbed aboard and got the crowd all fired up by asking, "Have you had enough?" and, "Are you ready for someone who will represent the people?"

Next, Barbara Ann Radnofsky, 2006 US Senate, shinnied right up on top of those pallets and began to talk to the crowd.  I missed most of what she said because people were excited and cheering but I do know that she was lovely, filled the crowd with hope then graciously introduced David Van Os.

FYI, BAR has requested a debate with Hutchinson anywhere and anytime, but Hutchinson is sticking her fingers in her ears and loudly singing, "La, la, la, la, la, la, la.  I can't hear you!  La, la, la, la, la..."  That is a wise move on Hutchinson's part because she wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell against the sharp BAR!

David was next up on the "stump."  He gave one of his "Fire Breathing Democrat" speeches about truth and justice for the people.  Again, I missed most of his speech because I was passing out flyers about the billboard he wants to put up in Dallas across from ExxonMobile

He took a few questions from the crowd then introduced Hank Gilbert, 2006 TX Ag Commissioner.

Hank is running for and he's another "Fire Breathing Democrat" who is not afraid to speak truth to power.  He talked about the trans-Texas Corridor.  Below is something about that from a post on BurntOrange

The trans-Texas corridor is a super-highway that our Republican leadership thinks we need to attract industry into Texas.  It amounts to the largest land-grab in the history of our great state.  It will travel some 578 miles across the most productive agricultural part of our state and consume 146 acres of farmland per mile.  This highway will be 1/4 mile wide, and destroy family farms all along its' path.  The part being kept real quiet is the huge water transmission lines between the 2 highways that will be used to pull water from underground and East Texas lakes to send to industry in the metroplex areas of Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, and San Antonio.  This entire project is being "farmed out" to a company in Spain, who in turn will build the structure and charge tolls on the highway for the next 50 years!  If they had truly talked with industry, they would know that transportation is not the limiting factor for not coming to Texas.  The limiting factor is an illeterate work force, due to the 40%+ high school drop-out rate...another Republican-caused problem!!!

I am too beat for anymore.  Tomorrow comes early and I have to git my tail back up to Cowtown and finish up on those IMPEACHment signatures.

Anybody who is in Fort Worth tomorrow, (0.00 / 0)
we could sure use some help getting the rest of those impeachment signatures.

Go get 'em! (0.00 / 0)
Y'all rock. Wish I were there to help. And to bid on the silent auction.
