Pete Sessions Strippergate: Why is Sessions Getting a Free Pass?

by: Phillip Martin, Progress Texas

Thu Apr 08, 2010 at 05:17 PM CDT

Watch the video:

The Lone Star Project put the video together. They ask an essential question:

Why is Pete Sessions Getting a Pass?

Republican National Committee Chair, Michael Steele, is struggling to hold his job after it was learned that the RNC paid almost $2000 to a Los Angeles adult-themed club. (Source: Washington Post, March 29, 2010) At the same time, no one is pressuring National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions to resign or even fully explain his fundraising at Las Vegas strip clubs. Sessions has held at least two fundraisers at adult-themed clubs and made no apologies.

Pete Sessions has never hesitated to spout moral platitudes when it serves his political purposes (Source: Family Research Council, 2008 "True Blue Award Winner") He also doesn’t mind stepping off his moral high horse to raise money using a sexually charged atmosphere featuring near-naked women as a lure for political money. Let's Talk About Sinful (3.00 / 2)
Cold-hearted Sessions couldn't care less. After all, as he tells his female constituent after she gave a heartfelt plea about not being able to pay for her husband's critically needed liver transplant medications:

"I started as a paper boy...I worked every day and never missed a day of work...and I know that all but for probably 5 genes that are wrong, it could be us, too...I'm not a cold, mean-hearted person...the American public is also kind and generous, but don't pick on everybody..."

And then after his one-sided long lecture about Obama, and his deliberate pauses for booing Obama and health care,  this woman was excused to great applause.

I guess she just wasn't "hot" enough for him.

Watch this video again, for the first time (especially beginning at 6:28).

This truly must be one of the most obscene and despicable performances by a politician I've ever viewed in my life!

So, who owns "Taliban " Pete, the heartless hypocrite? (0.00 / 0)
According to open secrets.org Sessions receives $110,650  from the health care industry.

Open Secrets.org very likely does not include off the books campaign "donations" from the Republican entertainment base in Las Vegas.

Stupak is quitting (0.00 / 0)
Boy oh boy! November is going to be a disaster if even Bart Stupak is retiring.

Oh, Let's See (0.00 / 0)
In April of 2008, we still didn't know (with absolute certainty) who was going to be the Democratic Party nominee on the ticket in November. Today is today. November is 7 months. Have a nice day.

Yeah (0.00 / 0)
I was at Netroots Nation last year. This same thing was predicted then. Try to keep up and stay on topic.

Now, a very great man once said that some people rob you with a fountain pen.

So Silver is wrong? (0.00 / 0)
Whew, that's a relief. I thought Silver was actually a smart person and correctly predicted almost every result of the 2008 presidential race. His charts, graphs, and analysis had me worried. I'm glad to know he's just an idiot and I can dismiss his observations and predictions of doom. Thanks.

[ Parent ]
Actually (0.00 / 0)
He dismisses his own predictions. He won't be "shocked" with either outcome.

"If Democrats were to lose 50, 60, 70 or even more House seats, it would not totally shock me. Nor would it shock me if they merely lost 15, or 20. But their downside case could be very far down."

I'll add that the "upside could be not much change," since he didn't.

Did you see that stock market report, today??

The stock market closed at a new 18-month high Friday, with the Dow Jones industrial average briefly touching 11,000 in the final minutes of trading. The gains were driven by fresh signs that the economy continues to recover. Many analysts remain skeptical that the market's gains are sustainable since they have come on relatively low volume, indicating that a large number of investors are still sitting on the sidelines. The Dow hadn't crossed 11,000 since Sept. 29, 2008, just as the worst phase of the financial crisis was beginning. [emphasis added.]

I've got my popcorn reserved (0.00 / 0)
for the show down between the teabagging Republicans and the Republicans who claim to be more "moderate."

Late for the movie (0.00 / 0)
That was called the primaries

Where's that footage from? (0.00 / 0)
For a split second I thought it was, The Kennedy Center Presents - The Clinton Years

So sorry (0.00 / 0)
The footage is from a strip club in Vegas. It's understandable that you must have been extremely traumatized very, very quickly by it and then looked away and then could only remember great politicians and wonderful years.

[ Parent ]
Sessions is a fat white guy with good hair (5.00 / 1)
what else do you need to know about him getting a pass?
