Sage vs. Montford (0.00 / 0)
What is everyone's final take on this race as we head into early voting? I still think the smart money is on Sage and that she wins by around 55-45. I think the crypto-Republican line will work against Montford. Anyone disagree?

I disagree (0.00 / 0)
Mindy Montford is a lifelong yellow dog Democrat.  That's part of the reason she's been endorsed by Senator Kirk Watson, Mayor Lee Leffingwell, County Judge Sam Biscoe and hundreds of other community leaders, elected officials and Democratic activists.  Mindy's been endorsed by the Austin American-Statesman, Austin Central Labor Council, Central Austin Democrats and many other law enforcement, Democratic and community organizations.  The members of the Austin Bar Association voted Mindy the "Best Qualified" candidate in this race and Mindy earned more than 15,000 votes in March, putting up an 8.5% margin over her nearest competitor.

Yes, but (0.00 / 0)
Didn't the Austin Chronincle endorse Sage as well as a whole host of Democratic groups? I thought I read it was 13-3 Sage to Montford when it came to those local group endorsements. Also, isn't the Statesman the same paper that endorsed George W. Bush twice?

The Only Candidate (5.00 / 1)
Mindy Montford is the only candidate in this race who has experience as both a prosecutor and defense attorney.  Mindy is the only candidate voted "Best Qualified" by the Austin Bar Association.  Mindy is the only candidate endorsed by Kirk Watson, Lee Leffingwell and Sam Biscoe.  Mindy is the only candidate who has lived in Travis County for more than 30 years.

Mindy's been endorsed by these organizations:

   * Austin Central Labor Council
   * Austin Firefighters Association
   * Travis County Sheriffs' Law Enforcement Association
   * Central Austin Democrats
   * Texas Environmental Democrats
   * Austin Lesbian Gay Political Caucus
   * The Villager Newspaper
   * Capital Area Asian American Democrats
   * Austin American Statesman
   * Voted "Best Qualified" by Austin Bar Association
   * Mexican American Democrats
   * Burnt Orange Report
   * Travis County Sheriff's Corrections Officers

The Austin American Statesman endorsed Barack Obama for President in 2008.
