El Paso Returns

By Byron LaMasters

There will be a run-off for mayor of El Paso. I would like to know what my El Paso friends think about that run-off and the city council races.

El Paso results here.

I will talk to you about it a bit later, but the two greatest victories yesterday were Susie Byrd defeating the dumbest incumbant ever and a challenger. She will be a progressive member of the council (and has the cutiest kid EVER!) and I'm thrilled she's my city council rep. The other great victory was the death of Anthony Cobos by Beto O' Rourke. Finally, people of that district woke up aginst someone who was just a lapdog for the mayor and the controlling business sector of El Paso. BTW: Beto is a young city councilman who is progressive, has excellent credeintials in education, and is a local businessman who owns a internet company in town (www.stantonstreet.com), and has a legacy in EP Politics because his father used to be a progressive Democratic County Judge and then switched paries in the 90s (who past away a couple of years later). I'll talk about this some more later.

Thanks Mike - you, Ruben or Elizabeth are more than welcome to write a guest post about El Paso politics whenever you would like. Let me know.
