I'm working on something to this regard. I think that the difference -- the important difference -- between Coulter and Moore is that Moore has never advocated the *violent* overthrow of anyone. That should be the criterion.

Coulter has the right to say what she wishes, the DSC has the right to invite who they wish. But inviting Coulter is simply bad taste and poor decorum. I'm mad that my student fees went to this - not because Coulter is conservative but because she has called for the death of political enemies to advance her political goals. Inviting Coulter shows a profound lack of human decency. We already knew Coulter, like the McCarthy she so champions, has none.

I think the best way to embarass her is to ask her questions in the Q&A session about her openly stated beliefs to kill those who do not beleive her values. Make her look like the lunatic she is.

Bottom line, don't suppress her speech - use her own speech to make her look like an idiot.

WhoMe? is right. While I believe something on the order of Eric Berndt's question to the Ayatollah Scalia would be in order, there has been quite a discussion on the effectiveness those sort of questions. So asking about killing those that don't share her values may be over the top, but I certainly think it would be valid to dig up all the times she has said that women shouldn't be allowed to vote because they can't be trusted to vote for the best candidate (since she claims they always vote for the handsome man and that is her explanation of Bill Clinton's support among women). She should be asked if she has hence refrained from voting (though I'd be tempted to add a "or does it not apply to you as a woman since you are really a male-to-female transexual thus explaining your hideous looks."

I posted my thoughts on this in a column in my blog. Might be edited as a column in the paper - might be that my blog publishing prohibits it from being run in the paper. I'm willing to take a bit of a risk, I'm only at the paper for two more weeks, so I do hope to give the blog a bit of a jumpstart.

Why would you attend? I would think an unpacked room would be your best answer. But no, the large audience with the questions asked that she won't answer, gives her the audience that she craves. I would suggest you hold signs outside with your questions. Is that allowed on campus? If not, stay home.

As for signs, yes do to free speech guidlines they are allowed, however they cannot interfer with the visual sight of others, so I would say hold them in the back of the auditorium.

We know we cannot please everyone with the way fees are used. However, we allow new members all the time, so if you want your say in how they are used, join DSC.

I would say something about the strategic use of pies, but someone might take it literally and I only mean it as a segue to a real idea.

Asking her embarassing questions seems to be a pretty good idea to me. Asking questions about her comments on television about Sen. Byrd comparing Republicans to Nazis (which he didn't) being a low blow but her numerous insinuations that the Democratic Party was an arm of KGB during the Cold War are OK. The women shouldn't vote remark is another good one. The column she published after 9/11 about invading Muslim countries and converting them to Christianity is one that ties in with her work at the Center for Individual Rights.

She is very apt to say "I didn't say that" or "I didn't write that" so the best thing to do is directly quote her with either a column run date or a date and show title. A quick Google search turns up a wealth of quotes. If she refuses to answer, the next person should ask the same question. Have flyers with her best quotes to pass out in front of the auditorium to everyone in attendance. Make this a big thing. You want media coverage and you want to see her lose her mind on stage during the Q&A, footage at 11.

I would really like to see the College Dems, as a group, get t-shirts. Some t-shirt shops do custom printing and will give a discount if you buy in bulk. Before, during and after, you could sell extras as a fundraiser to bring up awareness of how some Republicans think of our party. What it says should be up to you, but it occurs to me something Like "Sometimes you feel like a nut" with a quote about the Dems from Coulter on the front, and "Sometimes you don't" with UT College Dems written underneath on the back. Simple and without graphics relatively inexpensive. I'll be in Austin Friday and would be more than happy to buy one.

An auditorium packed with people asking her questions, confronting her with her insanity, but not being antagonistic could generate positive media coverage for us and negative coverage for her. She's not going to care what kind of coverage she gets, she's a media hog. But she's also not going to be around for long and its better in the long run for the Democratic Party in Austin and on campus to have a positive image.

I like the pie idea. I know I'd miss since I am a girl. But you men better hit the bulls-eye or again be labeled as (addmittedly true) "Liberals who throw like girls". Where are the real men we used to have? those who would show courage by beating the heck out of a woman? Will attend with great expectation:):)

Of course it was done before, and we were portraid in her columns as "throwing food like todlers in high-chairs"... You missed the sarcasm in my post, which is exacly the problem. We need to learn to argue on the issue and not to rant. Also the idiot that asked the question riddled with profanities (not quoting it here.. thank you) provided Ann with all the ammunition she needed.... We never had to argue anything intelligently when we controlled the campuses. Look how polished the Republican became on ideas during the time they were minority in the house... ;)
