Hokey smokes!

I didn't realize until reading Juan Cole's post that, two months after the Iraqi elections, Iraq still hasn't formed an interim government yet due to inter- and intra- party squabbles. Thank goodness we don't have a parliamentary-style government in America.

You haven't read all of Juan Cole's report. The reason they don't have a government yet is because the US insisted on a super-majority agreeing to form a government. In most parlimentary governments the winners get to form a government and losers are in the opposition. But the US wouldn't allow this and instead we have gridlock. The rationale was to keep the Shiites from creating a theocracy, but its still going to happen.
I read it, I just didn't want to make it sound like it was somehow, you know, our fault.
Though you are absolutely correct.
Did you realize that it took the United States 11 YEARS to get from declaring independence to writing our constitution? I think what is happening in Iraq is amazingling fast.
WRONG, Bob H.! It did not take eleven years for the United States to write a constitution.
Our first constitution was called the Articles of Confederation. The articles were passed by the Congress on 15 November 1777.
You can read our first constitution here:

Our current constitution was a replacement for the Articles.
