What do you think of Evan Bayh

Not my first choice... I'd like to learn more about Mark Warner or Phil Bresden, although I've always been a fan of Russ Feingold as well.

I'm not a huge fan of Bayh or the DLC. I'm generally a progressive, but I'm also a pragmatist, so my politics are sometimes hard to peg, even if most of my personal views are rather liberal.

Byron, I think the question is not one about whether Sessions was worse as a candidate than Frost, its how he chose to promote himself. He could have said that he "stood with a bipartisan majority to support travel safety," but instead implicitly endorsed the entire Republican party with his ad. That's the trouble: how can we ever build a majority with these messages coming out? How do you build the party, say in Texas for example, when your leading voices don't just run *away* from the Democrats, but actively run *towards* the GOP?

I grew up in Connecticut, and my House Rep (Chris Shays) is the opposite: he's a moderate Republican, and while he's signed on to a huge part of Bush's most radical proposals, he votes differently just often enough to run as an "independant voice" in the GOP. He doesn't say he loves the Democrats, or support the CT Senate delegation (2 Dems). Frost did the opposite, which is troubling.

Remember, many people on Kos and elsewhere gave to Frost and other embattled TX-Dems this cycle. Many, many Democrats have been motivated to political action by the Bush administration, and understandably consider *not* endorsing Bush an acceptable litmus test.

of course... i'll work my butt off to elect a democratic president in '08... I've never voted for a Republican in my life, and unless the Republican Party drastically changes their ideology, I doubt that I ever will... I'm a party activist, so of course i'll support the democratic nominee in whatever race...

that's good. My only beef is HRC. Because of her embracing of Kerik and other things, I can't stand her.

The good thing about Evan is that he is actively supporting our troops with legislation and speaking out against Rumsfeld.

Well as long as you support her if she's the nominee, then you're ok in my book... we have our fights in the primary, then we have to unite.

HRC isn't my first choice for '08, but like Bayh, I'll support her if she's the nominee.

Just looking at some of the top news reports today, it seems to me that Kerry is still considering going for it in '08. He was a little more probing in his questioning of Condi Rice than I expected from him.

I guess I'm wondering more what level of support he still has, or has everyone just totally abandoned the idea of supporting him again?

Kerry '08, get ready for it... "I got more votes than any other Democrat in history. And when the Republicans hit me, I'll hit them back twice as hard. I mean it this time."

Let's hope he stays a fine representative for MA - he let me down badly enough after Nov. 2nd that I am not looking forward to seeing his name on top of a ballot ever again. "The Real Deal" my ass.
