Rose Bowl Bound
By Byron LaMasters
Happy New Year from California. I just got to my friend's place in West Hollywood, and we have Rose Bowl tickets. Even better, is that my whole Rose Bowl trip so far has just cost $110.50 (although since my father gave me $100 before I left, this has technically cost me a grand whopping total of $10.50). I challenge any other Rose Bowl bound Longhorn to beat that =) It cost me $48 for the airplane ticket after my travel voucher, $62.50 for my Rose Bowl ticket (yeah, it's in the End Zone, but in row 13), and free lodging as I'm with my fabulous friend Sam. Ok, time to shut up and enjoy the New Year. I hope that all of yall are doing the same, and whatever you do, be safe tonight.
Here's to a peaceful and [insert your own Hallmark adjective here] 2005!

You lucky so and so. Here I am recording the game on DVR so that I don't miss even a commercial and you're going to actually be at the game. Well I hope you have a good time, anyway.
I live 10 minutes from the Rose Bowl, have never been to the game, but have attended the Rose Parade and several big soccer events at the Rose Bowl, including the 1984 Olympics, 1994 World Cup, and 1999 women's World Cup. It's a great stadium.
Today's Rose parade had fine sunny weather (the last rainout was in 1951), but the skies are now clouding up and it looks like Ms. Nature may not be so kind to the 93,000 fans at the Bowl -- not that bad weather ever stopped a football game.
Meanwhile, I'm supposed to go on a New Year's Day mountain hike later this afternoon with some neighbors, so that may be in jeopardy. We may be reduced to staying indoors and carousing. Happy New Year.
Hey Byron, congrats on a sweet last second victory over Michigan. How did you like the B-2 Bomber flyover? That thing gives me the chills everytime I see it. How long are you out here in socal? Are you up for a visit to "The OC" or behind the orange curtain as L.A calls it?
I recorded the Rose Bowl on DVR, but the game ran long and I didn't get the final 5 minutes! Does anyone know of a source for a recording of the game? I will gladly pay a reasonable price.
