Bye, bye Bernie

Bernard Kerik has taken his name out of nomination for Homeland Security Director. He stated "personal reasons" involving the immigration status of a nanny as the cause.
Josh Marshall and others have been doing some investigative journalism (remember when reporters used to do that?) and found some interesting things. For instance, though he was police commissioner of New york on Sept. 11, he quit that job soon afterwards. He also had a job training Iraqi police to take over the duty of securing the country whihc he left after only a few months. It's all moot now, but still interesting. This is stuff that is available in a quick Google search, but still most people don't know it; like Iraq not having WMD.

Did y'all miss the Newsweek reporter on CNN who said that they found, among other things, an outstanding arrest warrant for Kerik in NJ from 1998? They apparently called the White House for a comment last night and Kerik announced his withdrawal three hours later.
I saw that at Josh Marshall's site today as a matter of fact. The warrant was from 1998 over unpaid condo bills.
I think it had nothing to do with his maid, I seriously believe Bush told him to withdraw his name before the hearings so that he doesn't damage his "political capital." If you see an army massing in front of you, walk the other way. Kerik was a crony of Rudy's and this post was all about payback from the campaign, it just so happens Kerik was a bad person to put on the national stage.
What did u say about Iraq not having WMD? You CAN read, yes? There were not STOCKPILES of WMD, all lined up in nice neat warehouse-style rows. but there was plenty of unexplained precursor and dual use chemicals and equipment. Not to mention a significant amount of truck traffic to Syria in the weeks leading up to the war. So, you either lie, which is very plausibe, or you are uninformed, also plausible. My own belief is somewhat of a combination, in such that you are intentionally uniformed, choosing to not investigate anything which may tend to counter your own preconceptions.
May I point out that American voters have placed the presidency in the GOP's hands since 1968, save for Carter's post Watergate one term fiasco and Clinton's charismatic but flawed two terms (who BTW never received as many votes of percentage thereof as either of W's campaigns...), both houses of Congress, most of the governorships, as well as statehouse legislators.
So, whose thinking is flawed? Just the handful of you, or all of us? Smart money is on you. Sweet dreams..
