Gee, are you libs going to spend the rest of your lives in bitterness towards Katherine Harris? All she did was enforce the law.

Anyhow, nice try on raising the alarm, Byron... but you're telling your readers to get outraged over the Sec. of State following the law? As a future lawyer, aren't you going to try to make a career out of pointing out irregularities like these that weren't followed?

Also, I'm sure that this news story about fraudulent voter registration cards being tracked down to anti-Bush groups has just a little tiny bit to do with efforts to keep the registration system pure in Ohio.

"More than 1,000 voter registration forms and absentee ballot requests may be fraudulent in Lake and Summit counties, where investigations of irregularities are broadening.

Lake County Sheriff Daniel Dunlap said Thursday that he will investigate an attempt to register a dead person and other possibly fraudulent documents that were submitted to the Lake County Board of Elections.

Dunlap also said he has notified the FBI and the Ohio secretary of state.

"We want to make sure the election here in Lake County is the best possible," Dunlap said. "I don't know if this was a concerted effort or if it was just an overzealous, independent person here and there who decided to push the envelope."

Elections officials have said hundreds of absentee ballot applications and dozens of voter registration cards are in question. Lake County Prosecutor Charles Coulson, also involved in the probe, said the problems are more significant than originally thought.

"We've seen voter fraud before, but never on this level," Coulson said Thursday. "I grew up in Chicago and this looks like the politics of Mayor Daley in the '50s and '60s."

Lake election and law enforcement officials said their investigation is centered on absentee registration attempts by the nonpartisan NAACP's National Voter Fund and an anti-Bush, nonprofit group called Americans Coming Together, or ACT Ohio."

You make a big deal about Katherine Harris and other Republicans "enforcing the law." That is disputably, but just for the sake of argument, let's enter the assumption as a fact.

Remember when poll workers in the South required blacks to pass voter tests (i.e. guessing the number of jelly beans in a jar) in order to register to vote? Those guys were just enforcing the law, too.

So, if you lived in pre-1964 Alabama, and a black man tried to register to vote and was turned down because he incorrectly guessed the number of jelly beans in a jar, would you defend the people defending this system were just "enforcing the law"?

hahaha... diversionary question with a funny answer coming up.

If I were a good Southern Democrat, I guess I'd have to, wouldn't I? =)

Its those evil Republicans who passed the civil rights legislation of the '60's.

lol

OK, LET'S FOLLOW THE FRICKIN LAW!!

Voting Rights Act of 1971

42 U.S.C. 1971

No person acting under color of law shall . . . deny the right of any individual to vote in any election because of an error or omission on any record or paper relating to any application, registration, or other act requisite to voting, if such error or omission is not material in determining whether such individual is qualified under State law to vote in such election.

I don't think the thickness of the paper on which the voter registration card is printed is material to determining whether the individual is qualified to vote.

The rule put in place by the Secretary of State of Ohio seems to have no other purpose than to drive down voter turnout through use of an absurd technicality.

"Please tell me how many jelly beans are in this jar..."
