Germans

One in Five Germans Wants the Berlin Wall Back
Germans would vote 74-10 Kerry v. Bush, World Would Vote Kerry
It's quite interesting in my opinion. And true.

So 20% of Germans want the wall back?
Not surprising really. As is the case with most Europeans, Germans spend a lot more time living in the past than do "Americans.
On the other hand, what do you think the result would be if we polled the white population of the south and asked them how many would like to see the Confederacy restored? I wouldn't be surprised to find at least 20% of the white population in the south would want to erase the Union victory in the Civil war and would want the Confederacy back.
Excellent point. Consider this. In 2002, Mississippi voters had a chance to pass a constitutional amendment stripping their State Constitution of its anti-miscengenation plank (unenforceable b/c of Loving v. Virginia, but symbolic noneeheless). Sounds like a no-brainer? Repeal a bitterly racist provision that is unenforceable anyway.
The result? The Amendment failed and good ole' Mississippi's Constitution still says whites and blacks cannot marry. Considering that Mississippi is 1/3 black, then the white vote went substantially against the voice of reason.
Does this actually surprise anyone? What does one expect of "Red State" America? (And I am a 4th generation Texan, lest anyone call me a damn yankee).
