Things that are Wow

Today was really quite a day.
First, I watched the Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics which I've never done before. I cannot imagine what it must be like to actually be there. I intend to watch coverage of it as I can and hope that all is safe and dignified.
Secondly, I just watched the evening news and saw the report on Austin's downtown tribute to Lance Armstrong. Est. 60,000-100,000 people came out which is stunning.
Third, John Kerry in Oregon today had a rally of between 50,000-60,000. This report with pictures further down blows me away. If I remember correctly, Gore didn't have those kinds of crowds until the last week in Florida where I think he had an Election night rally of 50,000. Folks, this election will truly be like no other. I predict national turnout between 55-60% and I a decisive win, none of this 50-50 jazz.

nice blog, been reading it for awhile.
Anyhow, this is Phil, you know me but maybe not by name, from UD's and Howard Dean (blonde hair, kinda long at the moment). Anyhow, sorry this is off-topic but I got a question. It further proved they're clueless about good culture, she's one of the most original and talented artists out there, but they just treated her like more of the stage decorations. 'Twas bullshit coverage, but Greece put on an awesome show. First time I've watched and enjoyed Olympics opening coverage.

Don't let enthusiasm over the size of crowds at rallies cloud your judgement. George McGovern and Walter Mondale probably had some well attended rallies when they were running.
Michael Dukakis was 17% ahead of Papi Bush after the Democratic Convention in 1988. I remember a lot of us getting exited over the imminent prospect of a President Dukakis in August of 1988.
Things may look modestly favorable at the moment, but the empire has yet to strike back.
Overconfidence never won an election.
I'm with you on the decisive win, 51 to 46 for the President. $5000.00 don't go too far. Glad you liked the Lance tribute. He rode such a great race. He is a great friend of "W's". Opening and closing ceremonies are the best, always very moving. Keep watching!!!
I may be a Democrat, but I can't say that I was excited about a President Dukakis. :)
