I wanted to let you all know about a new petition website we just started. We're trying to build it up as much as possible to let the press know how many working people like us are against George W. Bush. I hope you stop by www.peopleagainstw.org and give us some feedback. thanks!

As much as I admire BOR's idealism, these will not be close races.
In fact, there are very few races with the potential to be close. Mercer is the best shot for Ds to beat an incumbent R. Hamilton is a possibility, depending on what kind of candidate Peveto turns out to be. Stick and Baxter have good opponents in arguably close districts, but neither challenger has much of a chance absent a scandal.
Protecting Hochberg, Hopson, McReynolds, Farabee and Ellis are more worthy than trying to beat Bonnen and Crabb. All of these Democrats should win, based on demography, money, incumbency, etc. Bonnen (who I used to like, but was a shitty Environmental Resources chairman -- for personal as much as policy reasons --) and Crabb will win without lifting a finger.
The open HD 1 race vacated by Telford probably favors the Democrat, but it could be close. Even Laney will not win by the margin he has in the past. Opiela could snatch a seat in South Texas that should go to a Democrat, and there is a very remote possible that Capello's seat could go Republican.
I think Patrick Rose will win (although that district has elected four different Democrats and two different Republicans in the past 20 years, all of whom beat incumbents).
John Mabry will lose.
If committed young Democratic activists want to win races, I respectully suggest you spend time and money on saving those you have, then going for whatever low-hanging fruit that may be out there for the taking.
Forget Crabb and Bonnen. Try to hang on to incumbent Ds and maybe give Mercer a run for his money.
