Texans to skip convention
By Jim Dallas
Martin Frost, Chet Edwards, Nick Lampson, and Max Sandlin will not be present in Boston, according to the AP. They'll be campaigning in their re-mapped districts.
Perhaps more strangely, Lloyd Doggett and Solomon Ortiz will also not be going. Apparently Doggett will be working the district, just to be safe, and Ortiz will be smoozing with businessmen (ahem).

Of course, by doing so, they reduce the total delegate count and thus the number needed to get nominated bring Dennis Kucinich that much closer to overtaking John Kerry!!!
Ahem.
They might be dumb, but they're not that dumb. Do you think those aforementioned congressman would be caught dead in that liberal scenery in Boston? It's smart politics for them. They can read the polls about Kerry & southern voters. They have to pretend to be "moderate to conservative" when election time rolls around and then revert back to socialist tendencies when the election is over :)
but what about doggett? that logic does not apply to him.

Its probably smart for Lampson to focus on his district, as well. He'll get the coverage by the local media for whatever appearances he makes. But regretably, I still think he is toast this time around. I'm sorry that he didn't move down and take on Dr. No, Ron Paul. That turkey Libertarian Republican is getting his new term unopposed.
