July 08, 2004Am I addicted?By Byron LaMastersOr can I just not get over my excitement about our ticket? ![]() Comments
But what a good addition!!!! I'm still overcome with envy that you will be at the convention also !! Posted by: GT at July 8, 2004 07:40 AMI hope the addiction is highly contagious and incurable. =) Posted by: Tim Z. at July 8, 2004 08:03 AMWhat did Edwards say of Kerry; "Do you believe that change is more likely to be brought about by someone who has spent 20 years in Washington or by someone who is more of an outsider to this process." Well i guess he did not mean that either. i'm sure the event will be exciting for those attending. Have a good time, drink a Sam Adams, then come home and face reality. You're not a national party anymore. Your party has been decaying since 1965. Your message is the same that Truman used in 1948. We've heard it soo many times. TEA supports Democrats, in California 200 teachers discovered to have tried to cheat the Ted Kennedy inspired Leave No Child Behind Act. In Miami/Dade, 40% of the schools failed the above Act for the 2cd time. 140,000 students can now opt out of there neighborhood school. And yet the TEA still supports Democrats. Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner labeled Bush policies "fascism" yesterday but added that minorities made no great strides under Bill Clinton. "We would be foolish if we don't realize that we have to be prepared to struggle with a Democratic administration." Why the struggle? Minorities seem to support Democrats all the time. Why haven't they delivered for their constituents? Must be all talk. Posted by: peter at July 8, 2004 10:40 AMPeter, Peter, Peter, 5 extra credit points if you even have the faintest clue where that line comes from. As for who said what about whom, let's take a look at the "priase" "W" heaped on McCain 3 years ago. But of course I guess he changed his mind since he has him out stumping for him now. That's ONE of the problems with Republicans, they pick a course of action and REFUSE to periodilcally re-evaluate that course to ensure it is still appropriate given changed sircumstances. They just keep trying to rejustify their original analysis with new data. Two - for a group that is no longer a national party, we sure did manage to kick "W" dad out of office. As for the TEA - do I have to remind you that education is controlled by STATES? No Child Left Behind was mandated of STATES by the feds and the two states whom you happen to mention were doing so poorly just happen to have REPUBLICAN Governors. The fact that Florida is Bushies bro is far to funny. And last but not least - do you really want to compare Bushies minority record with ANY democratic president? Think it over. Posted by: GT at July 8, 2004 11:57 AMAccording to Eugene Rivers of the National Ten Point Leadership Foundation;"With younger blacks showing less ideological commitment to the Democratic Party - even as President Bush scores points with high-level minority appointments the race for the black vote is wide open". Donna Brazile also seems to think that Dems take the black vote for granted. Dems haven't been delivering very well lately. Its time to look elsewhere. Black participation is up a whole .3% in Boston to celebrate two rich white guys running for the Presidency. Kerry didn't even have a minority on his list of veep candidates. Where are monorities on his staff? Real inclusion here. Posted by: peter at July 8, 2004 01:14 PMEisenhower - ends deseggregation in schools. 89% support for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voter Rights Act of 1965, Dems only had 69%. I think we've already discuss the low Democratic support of the both 64-65 Acts. It was the Southern Conservative Democratic Wing of the Party that opposed the acts which made it a lower precentage. This wing really no longer exist since they have all turned Republican. Also, Ike enforced a Court Ruling to desegreat schools, it wasn't on his own. Finally, if we are also going to add civil rights accomplishments, I do want add to your list President Truman who desegregated the armed forces Posted by: mike at July 8, 2004 02:26 PMFor GT: How about the Chris Heinz interview in the Pittsburg Post-Gazette dated June 17th? "I was very pro-Edwards in the spring, but now I think we may need someone with stronger credentials on foreign policy." If you want to support John Kerry at the grassroots level then visit www.UT4kerry.com and see what students at the University of Texas are doing to TAKE BACK AMERICA! Posted by: Jail Jeff at July 8, 2004 06:35 PMHasn't Edwards been on the Senate Intelligence Committee since before 9/11? So how again does he not have enough experience? He has more experience than Bush had when he was 'elected'. Besides, does experience truly matter? Look where the 'experience' of the Bush administration has got us... Posted by: Jason Young at July 8, 2004 10:44 PMJoe Scarborough agrees with me Posted by: Jason Young at July 8, 2004 10:46 PMThe opinion of Chris Heinz is one from Kerry's son/adopted. His own family thinks this way. He did not choose his own person, he followed the polls. By the way do you'al know they're neighbors in Georgetown, address's are 3327 and 3332 on the same street. Man talk about lazy, sees another Senator going out for the paper and says he'd be a good veep. Posted by: peter at July 9, 2004 08:46 AMYou might be the dumbest person alive, Peter. Posted by: Andrew D at July 9, 2004 11:49 AMPeter, Now - as for your other statements. You still haven't addressed why flip-flop Bush now heaps praise on McCain when just a short time ago he was calling him everything but white OR why the two states you mentioned that are failing so badly on No Child Left Behind are BOTH run by Republican governors?!?!?!?!
