A Call from Alma Allen
By Byron LaMasters
Alma Allen called me this morning to thank us for our help in raising money for her campaign online. Apparently, her campaign has raised about $2800 online since they set up an online contribution form. I was only able to talk to her for a few minutes as I was on my way to class, but I'll be sure to call her back later today or tomorrow to see if I can ask her some questions for the blog. Anyway, thanks to everyone who has donated to Alma Allen. Also, a special thanks for the efforts of kos, Kuffner and Greg, and whoever else has supported Alma Allen on their blog. For those of you unfamiliar with this race, read this. Alma Allen a solid, progressive Democrat running against Ron Wilson - one of the two "Democrats" to vote for the Tom DeLay redistricting plan. Donate to Alma Allen today.

Is that $2.8k solely from BOA or from all internet sources?
All internet sources.... a lot of it came in through my diary entry on Kos that was promoted to the main page. I'm sure that a share of it has also come from Off the Kuff and other blogs. I don't know how it's divided out. The only number I got was $2800 total.
Everybody is getting online donations. Our church, the Church of Fandel ain't getting a damn dime.
Great news on Allen's haul online. Let's hope it helps her next week.
And the Chronicle endorsed Ron Wilson! What's wrong with them?
Dr.Allen's latest campaign finance reports she has LOTs of BOR contributions (but very few of them are from Texas, and in the big picture don't amount to much). But of her roughly $150,000 raised in the last reporting period, about $120,000 came from just three sources including at least $80,000 from a single PAC that has but a handful of members. She took $80,000 from a single PAC that was just created!
Chairman Wilson slightly outraised her, and he did not have any gigantic contributions (the Johnson & Johnson law firm, longtime family frieds, gave $10,000).
