Darn that Bob Jensen
By Jim Dallas
As a freshmen, I got "indoctrinated" about this crazy theory that the media end up caving into right-wing interests because they've got the money and the "flak" to veto anything they don't like.
Now, who'd believe that?

(Umm, never mind).

Herman, Gnome Chimsky's old pal. Gawd, does Jensen really teach that discredited conspiracy mongering? Try to get your tuition back if you can.
You miss the bigger point: liberal control of the media is so pervasive that such a smear job against a liberal icon would never even make it past the initial studio pitch - indeed, would never even be conceived of by a Hollywood type. It's only now that Republicans have the alternate media to fight back.
That's also what's behind today's "bitter partisanship". Liberals are so used to owning the entire political spectrum that now that Republicans have the numbers and means to actually fight back, liberals are shocked, shocked at the stridency of political debate.
Ratliff's "above partisanship" grandstanding is simply another aspect of this on a local, state level. For 130 years Dems have run Texas, now that the Republicans can talk back, all of a sudden there seems to be this unseemly partisanship.
The problem with Jensen is that he uses a position of power to advocate for his political point of view. This is wrong and a violation of the trust he holds as a professor of UT. We professors should NOT be in the position of delivering our prejudices to students as truths.
