GOP Judge Likely to Run for Congress

By Byron LaMasters

In a new 2nd district, count State District Judge Ted Poe (R) as a likely candidate. The current 2nd district is represented by Jim Turner (D), but the district is seriously altered in the GOP redistricting map. The Houston Chronicle reports.

Ted Poe will be a formidable candidate against Nick Lampson, if, the map holds and Lampson makes the race. I figured a Republican from the Spring/Humble area would run.

I have known Judge Ted Poe for 22 years, since he was a prosecutor in the District Attorney's office. If he runs for ANY state or national office, I would very much like to volunteer to work in his campaign. Judge Poe is an honorable and thoughtful person. Texas would be well served by this man, as we have been for 22 years.
