Whitmire is Back
By Byron LaMasters
I was pretty busy today, but Charles was on the story of the Sen. Whitmire's return to Houston. I'm a little upset and disappointed, and I hope that he'll continue to break quorum should another special session be called, but I'm not going to call for his defeat in a Democratic primary, like I have with Ron Wilson. I guess we'll just have to see what happens. Anyway, I've had a long day, and I'll blog on it in more detail tomorrow (unless Jim or Andrew gets to it). Again, for all the coverage you need for now, check out Off the Kuff

I can't blame Whitmire. The Democrats have been in New Mexico long enough to be declared legal residents of New Mexico (seriously; New Mexico law allows people to vote there if they've been there for 28 days -- and the Dems have been there going on 40).
I don't mean that as purely a humorous note either. I'm kind of suspecting the Republicans would probably try to declare the Texas 11 to know longer be Texas citizens if they didn't come back in the next couple weeks.
Er,
I mean, to declare them to "no longer" be Texas residents.
I'm trying to find out what legal residency means in Texas. Is it 30 days or 365? New Mexico has an interesting definition for tax purposes - a 185 day rule.
